My Dell Mini 9 now has a 16GB SSD and 2GB of RAM, and it is running Windows XP Professional (luckily Microsoft licensing stupidities do not apply once a consumer has possession of the device). It is somewhat faster than before, and the drive certainly makes me feel more like I can actually install software on the system now, unlike before where I was counting every megabyte. I am still carefully installing software, but some of the anal is gone out of it (I am carefully pruning out features I will NEVER use, such as .NET 2.0 extensions in Office). I have a full install of Windows XP Pro SP3, Office 2003, OneNote 2007, FireFox and of course Windows Live Writing, and I am still just right at 3GB of space used. I feel as though I can be very flexible with this system now.
